Around the campus
Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) has two campuses - the Humanities and Social Sciences Campus (HSSC) in Seoul and the Natural Sciences Campus (NSC) in Suwon. The location of the HSSC, where SKK GSB is based, is in the center of downtown Seoul, a city with the latest culture and new businesses. (www.visitseoul.net)
The origin of modern Sungkyunkwan University dates back over 600 years. Sungkyunkwan was a royal educational institution during Chosun Dynasty and, as a result, modern Sungkyunkwan University is surrounded by three main palaces - Changdeokgung, Changgyunggung, and Gyeonbokgung - among five main palaces in Seoul. HSSC is also adjacent to Daehak-ro, a well-known trend-setting area of both modern art and theatrical performances. There are many cafes, restaurants and bars that attract university students and theater goers.
Insa-dong is the art district of Seoul near HSSC. Several traditional tea shops, art galleries, antique shops, restaurants and ceramic dealers line the main street of this district. Every Sunday the street is closed to traffic and opened up to street performers, artists and food vendors.
Samcheong-dong is a favorite place for gourmets and dilettantes. Its street is famous for beautiful galleries, restaurants, and traditional Buddhist temples.
